David Avery will join CENS January 1st as Administrative Director for CENS. He is a career Bruin who comes to us from the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH) at UCLA, where he has served 4 years as the Associate Director. Prior to his time with COEH, David spent 11 years at the UCLA ISSR where he worked his way from undergraduate clerk to accounting assistant to his final role as Personnel Manager and Contract and Grant pre-award administrator. David is a graduate of UCLA, with a BA in History and Development Studies and a MPH in Health Education. David was born and raised in California.
Dr. Jeff Goldman will join CENS March 1st as its first Director of Program Development. Jeff is currently Co-Principal Investigator and Project Manager for NEON (National Ecological Observatory Network), where he has been running the multi-year and multi-million dollar NSF planning program to design and develop a national research platform for environmental science that utilizes embedded networked sensing as major enabling technology. Jeff received his PhD in Biology from Duke University in 2001 with a minor field in Mechanical Engineering. He did his undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley, and was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley.
