A data acquisition software suite for
remotely deployed Q330 digitizers
Overview:
Duiker is a data acquisition software suite for
remotely deployed Q330 digitizers. The Duiker wireless acoustic and seismic
sensing systems are based on a common software and hardware platform, and
share robustness and scalability features. Both the systems use battery
powered sensor nodes based on an XScale processor, running Linux, 802.11b
radios, and software written in EmStar.
A white paper on the software is available in both pdf and postscript.
These presenatations provide a tutorial of the software: seismic

Download:
- For Intel x86 architecture:
The Ubuntu ISO image ubuntu-6.06.1-desktop-i386-raven-18.iso
primarily contains Emstar source, installed Emstar binaries, and Emstar
binaries for stargate release 7.2 (ARM architecture). One can use the ISO
image in multiple ways:
- burn an ISO CD and use the CD to boot his PC
to get pre-installed
Emstar (advantage: no installtion on PC reuired; disadvantage:
executing from CD could be slow if you have less RAM in the PC)
- burn an ISO CD and use the CD to install
Ubuntu with pre-installed Emstar on his PC (advantage: Emstar binaries
run at the native speed on your PC; disadvantage: needs to install
Ubuntu on your PC)
- install Ubuntu along with
Emstar in a emulator such as Paralles Desktop for Mac OS X, VMWare and
Qemu for Windows and Linux <(advantage:
Emstar binaries execute at a better speed than that of using option 1
of CD; disadvantage: needs to install Ubuntu in your choice of
emulator/simulator)
- For stargate architecture:
The bootloader,
kernel,
and root
file-system contain all of the seismic software
(Disruption Tolerant Shell, ETX-based routing, File Mover, etc) as part
of the pre-installed OS image for the stargate. One can load this image
on their stargate using zmodem or TFTP.
For more information about
the use of the software, please read seismic presentation slides posted
above on this page.
